Corroboree Little Atheletics

Centre of the Year!

25 April 2018

We have some exiting news to conclude a fantastic season; last weekend at the Little Athletics ACT Awards night, Corroboree was awarded Centre of the Year! This award is given to the Centre that made the greatest contribution to the furtherance of the aims, reputation and governance of Little Athletics ACT. There are many criteria that are taken into consideration, including athlete numbers, participation at meets and LAACT carnivals, the club’s program and culture, and other contributions to LAACT.

This award is a recognition of all our athletes, performing wonderfully at our weekly meets, training sessions, as well as at carnivals, trying their best and encouraging each other. It is also testament to all our parents, committee members and other volunteers, who make our club run so successfully. So, congratulations to you – you should all be very proud of this award – we’ll put it on display next season!

The awards didn’t end there however;

Ruud van Scheppingen was awarded the Michael Spencer Volunteer of the year Award in recognition of his contribution to Corroboree and LAACT, as coach and official.

We also received the Cross-Country Trophy for winning the overall point score for the RunACT series, held last Autumn-Winter season.

So, congratulations to Ruud, and all athletes who participated in the RunACT series last year.

The RunACT series is starting again soon, and we’d like to encourage all athletes to participate. For further details please keep an eye on Athletics ACT’s website (or emails from LAACT office).
