Corroboree Little Atheletics

Little Athletics ACT offer 3 carnivals during the season where our athletes get the chance to compete against the other ACT clubs in well organised events on quality tracks and surfaces. The kids have a great day out and I firmly encourage children of all abilities to get involved and represent our great club at these events. Information about these events will be presented at Corroboree meets closer to each event.

Relay Carnival

Athletes from each age group from under 6s (limited events) and above will have the opportunity to compete in relay running races as well as team track events (best performances from members of the team count towards the overall pointscore). U6 and U7s compete in 50m and 100m relays whilst U8’s and above get the chance to compete in the running relays and one jump and one throwing event. The beauty of this event is that athletes get to compete as part of a team.

Multi Event Carnival

The Multi Event is conducted on an individual point score basis with points allocated for times in track events and distances in field events (similar to how a heptathlon or decathlon are conducted).  Athletes must compete in all of their Age Group events in order to be eligible for a medal. Each participating athlete is expected to compete in either four or five events (depending on age). In general these consist of a short and longer run, hurdles, a throw and a jump.

ACT Little Athletics Championships

This is the last event of the ACT Little Athletics Association (ACTLAA) calendar.
Theses championships are run over Friday evening, and all weekend for U8s – U17s where Corroboree athletes compete against the best from other centres.

On completion of the Championships, the ACT team (in the U13 and U15 age groups) will be selected for the Australian Little Athletics Championships to be held usually in April of that year.
