Every parent is expected to assist in the running of a meet in a formal capacity, at least once during
the season. The following roles are selectable when you register. You can choose multiple weeks if
you prefer but the minimum is one. We are always looking for people who are willing to assist every
week in any capacity so if you enjoy a role and would like to do it on a regular basis, please let the
committee know at email@example.com and we’ll get in ouch with you.
Be advised these roles are on top of what you would normally be expected to do in terms of
collecting discuses or measuring long jump etc every Saturday.
Timing (Straight Track)
4 people are required each week in 2 teams of 2, to co-ordinate timing for events up to 100m held
on the straight track. One person uses the iPad to record times and the second, reads through the
results so they can be recorded on the results sheets. The second person also organises the parents
to have numbered cards to give to the kids after each event denoting where they finished. They are
not technical roles and once shown, any parent can easily do the job for the entire meet.
Timing (Round Track)
4 people are required to work in teams of 2 to, to co-ordinate timing on the round track for events
from 200m-1500m including walking events. Relays are also run on the round track, but these are
not timed. One person uses the multi timer to record the results and the second person gives the
results t the recording person for the age group so they can be recorded on the results sheets. The
second person also organises the parents to have numbered cards to give to the kids after each
event denoting where they finished. They are not technical roles and once shown, any parent can
easily do the job for the entire meet.
This person will be responsible for cooking the sausages, eggs, and bacon at the BBQ each meet. A
Corroboree Committee member will oversee the BBQ but will not actually do the cooking
her/himself. You will be expected to cook for the entire duration of the meet.
4 people are required to take cash, and serve the customers drinks, chips, lollies, sausage
sandwiches etc. A Corroboree Committee member will oversee the BBQ and allocate roles as
required. Most assistants will only be needed for around an hour each at various times during the
Age Group Coordinators
One parent from each age group is required to take charge of the age and gender group and we
would prefer if it were the same person for the entire season. Your role means that you take the kids
from event to event, corral the kids into heats, organise the parents into collecting equipment after
throws, measuring, and recording finishing orders at the finish line. It is a rewarding task and means
your child gets to see their Mum or Dad be heavily involved and interested in their child’s
Set-Up (7.50am-8.45am on Saturday mornings)
This involves setting up the registration tents, tables and chairs, equipment including High Jump
mats, finish line poles, age group baskets, raking the long jump pit and any other tasks necessary to
get a meet underway.
This role involves brining everything back to the equipment containers at the conclusion of the
meet. The committee will normally pack it into the containers as everything has its place but
bringing everything in is a massive assistance the running of the meet.
This role is reserved for Parents who are also Committee Members and assist in the overall running
of each meet. If you select this option and you are not committee, you will be asked to make
another selection or allocated another role automatically.
Other roles not listed
The Committee is a bunch of parents who have put their hand up to ensure each meet runs as well
as it possibly can. Around 40-50 parents are required each week to ensure a meet runs as well as it
can. We have some roles where knowledge of the sport of athletics would come in really useful. This
includes walks judging, Throws (Discus, Shot Put and Javelin) expertise, Triple Jump and High Jump.
The committee members cover as many of these as we can but there is usually always a shortage
and some areas miss out on having an overseer of the area. If you would like to assist in any capacity
then please email us at info@Corroboreela.com and let us know how you can assist. We would
consider any offer of assistance every few weeks if you would prefer to watch your kids on other
weeks but would prepared to help out every now and then. We will work around your needs.
